Wildlife in Chateau Woods

Chateau Woods Board of Directors does not monitor or have control over wildlife in the area.   Wildlife falls into the jurisdiction of the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. This includes deer, raccoons, coyotes, cougars, and bears. Contact the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife at (425) 775-1311 for wildlife-related issues.

On Chateau Woods property, NO POISONS should ever be used for anything outside or under the home including: mice, rats, moles, voles, gophers or any wildlife or vermin.

There is no simple method to control moles, voles, or gophers in lawns. Poisons are too dangerous and smoke devices or flooding the holes and passages are rarely effective. Traps require disposing of the dead animals by the homeowners.

The HOA has no ability or process for dead animal removal including raccoons, deer, possums, bears, coyotes, rabbits, rats, mice, and other critters found naturally at CW.

According to King County:

"Dispose of individual dead animals weighing less than 15 pounds in the household garbage. Dead animals weighing more than 15 pounds (or large numbers of dead animals) should be taken to a rendering plant, veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or pet cemetery, or buried on the owner's property".   The other option is to call the local sanitation department in your neighborhood and ask for assistance with dead animal disposal.
